Welcome to ColinMawby.org
Welcome to the website for Colin Mawby (1936-2019). This project, run by his surviving family, is set to gather all the pieces and hold them in one place. Part community archival project, part choir-training resource. We're building up the website at the moment, so do watch this space. Currently we have about a third of Colin's published work listed, the interviews we've been able to find, and some recordings of Colin conducting. Coming soon will be a directory of articles which Colin wrote, and more information about his operas for young people.
Choir Training and Music-for-Church-Choirs.com
While Colin was alive, he was responsible for music-for-church-choirs.com and from 2004-2017 he wrote its monthly newsletter Vivace!. This trove of information forms the basis for the recently published book Choir Training with Colin Mawby. The original webpages are republished and freely available on this site. The collection of 153 Vivace! newsletters are available on this website for a one-time fee, which goes towards maintaining and supporting this website.
Colin and music-for-church-choirs.com never shied away from technology. In this spirit I've made a modern search and navigation system so you can quickly find what you're looking for within the corpus of Colin's written material. It'll also tell you the page number for that material within the printed book, should that be helpful!
Are you familiar with Colin's music? Help us write an introductory guide!
The list of published works we've got online at the moment might be a bit intimidating, dense, and hard to navigate. If you know Colin's works well, we are seeking help with both writing 'A beginner's guide to Colin Mawby's music', and with sorting the list of music into a more accessible format. If you have ideas about either of these, please get in touch!
