It's difficult to define exactly what tone-deafness is. It's perceived by people in totally different ways. Does it mean the inability to hear a note, or not being able to sing one back after it's been played on the piano? Or does it just mean the inability to hear music - this of course implies a total lack of awareness of what music sounds like. Can this condition really exist?
