The Pope is said to want the return of some plainchant to the Catholic liturgy. The Cardinal in charge of the Congregation for the Liturgy in Rome has made this fairly clear. In England the Bishop of East Anglia has asked his priests to ensure that their congregations can sing Mass 8 as plainchant is seen as the music ideally suited to the liturgy.
