I was in Rome recently to make a TV programme for EWTN on the future of Catholic music. EWTN is a catholic broadcasting station which transmits to 140 countries round the world. The programme centred on a discussion with Cardinal Domenico Bartolucci who was Maestro of the Sistine Choir for many years. He was appointed as Assistant Maestro to Perosi by Pius XII and made perpetual Director by John XXIII. Maestro Bartolucci has composed extensively and his music is widely sung throughout the world. His work with the choir is legendary and he turned it into a highly sensitive and expressive musical instrument.
